Yes it is important to be true to your emotions and take some time to work through them, perhaps by writing down what you are feeling and why. Then decide not to dwell in any negative feelings.
You can choose to think a better thought.
Moving your attention to things you are grateful for or even visualizing things that makes you smile can change your entire mindset. Spend time with these positive feelings. From this positive thinking place, you might find that you are better able to deal with what upset you in the first place and respond in a way that does not come out of anger or fear.
