We journey through life enjoying our days, our friends, our homes and our lives without a second thought.
But, in the blink of an eye, anything or everything can change. A car crash, the sudden loss of a loved one, or even a house fire, can alter our lives in an instant.
How will we survive when such a great loss takes away so much?
Somehow we do.
The road through life is rarely smooth. It is more like a roller-coaster ride, taking us to wonderful highs and then just as quickly sucking the breath out of us as it drops us to the ground.
In the days and weeks that follow, your feelings may spiral in one direction and then the other, without warning. Be patient with yourself and your emotions.
As hard as it may be, focusing on the positive things in your life, things you can be thankful for, will help. Keeping your mind and your body active can also help relieve some stress.
If you find yourself constantly thinking about the event, don't beat yourself up. That is part of the healing process. Give yourself time to grieve and know that it is OK to ask for help.
The night is darkest just before dawn. Things will get better.
New beginnings.
Starting over can be scary, so take baby steps. Don't rush making any decisions that you don't feel comfortable with and be true to your own emotions.
Rebuild things the way you envision them to be. Splurge on something that makes you smile. Pamper yourself and don't worry about what it costs. Remember you are alive and you are worth it.
Believe that good things are coming your way. Although keeping a happy disposition may not always change the outcome, living your life with a positive attitude is the only way to truly live life.
Above all... Take one day at a time.
